Together with Stockholm Resilience Centre and Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Race For The Baltic organised the conference ‘Connecting and Protecting Our Seas: Initiatives in the Baltic and the Mediterranean‘ in Monaco on October 13 2017 with the Governments of Sweden and Monaco.

The conference was a follow-up event to The Ocean Conference in New York in June 2017, where Sweden and Monaco joined hands in moving from words to deeds in facilitating the exchange of experiences and know-how in dealing with the preservation of our oceans. The event took place on the 13 October, attended by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and H.R.H. Prince Carl Philip of Sweden. Representatives from the Swedish and Monaco Governments participated in panels, including the Swedish Minister for the Environment, Ms. Karolina Skog and Swedish State Secretary for Infrastructure Mr. Mattias Landgren, and Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development of Monaco Ms. Marie-Pierre Gramaglia.

The conference focused on the importance of strong local ownership and commitment to improve the situation in the Baltic and the Mediterranean Seas. It highlighted dedicated research and concrete solutions-oriented cooperation between actors across the board – governments, regional and local authorities, academia, agencies and companies.
