On 5 and 6 October 2017, the European Union hosted the 4th edition of the Our Ocean conference in Malta and Race For The Baltic participated as a non profit/civil society representative. Topics ranging from marine protected areas, commitments to clean up marine litter and plastics to a call for a Paris Agreement for the ocean where just some of the topics discussed during the two days among heads of states, HRH Prince of Wales, Prince Albert II of Monaco, and many more distinguished speakers.

The outcome of the conference was unprecedented and achieved:

– 437 tangible and measurable commitments

– EUR 7.2 billion in financial pledges

– 2.5 million square kilometres of additional Marine Protected Areas
