Identified concrete solutions in the Production Project
Over the summer we managed to engage the management of our main partner in Poland – a large fertilizer producer. Together we pinpointed the most important activities for the second half of 2022, which include investment plans with significant emission reduction potential and a large leap forward in technology. We plan to hold several expert meetings as a follow-up. During Q322 we also initiated some new cooperations with private entities and local authorities.
New cooperation with middle size fertilizer producer
In Q322 we initiated a completely new path of cooperation with middle size fertilizer producer and port from north-western part of Poland. Both sides agreed on high potential for collaboration with a great capacity for spillage reduction, enhancing BAP\BEP, trainings, and technology upgrades. We plan a site visit at their facilities in November this year.
We attended an opening conference related to construction of a new Polish maritime port in Elblag which is possible now after Poland recently finished the construction of Vistula Spit Canal. In the future we plan a site visit in Elblag port and meetings with operators which handle fertilizer.
New cooperations with private entities and local authorities
In September we also met with several Polish maritime, environmental, and scientific organizations like Maritime Office in Szczecin, National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdansk, Technology University in Gdansk, and a water drone producer – SeaData. We have thoroughly screened the possible ways forward in decreasing eutrophication leakage sources and improve water monitoring and sampling system and we also plan to organize some events in Poland.
HELCOM phosphogypsum workshop
On October 17 we plan to actively participate in an informal consultation workshop on phosphogypsum waste site management organized by Helcom in Uppsala, Sweden. This will be a great occasion to meet all the relevant stakeholders and discuss possible ways forward with this issue.
