Port: All cleaning machines put into operation at our key partners

During the first quarter of 2024 all cleaning machines that we co-financed have been put into operation at our key partners  which is: Fosfan, Baltic Stevedoring Company and Grupa Azoty Police. As the winter receded and the weather improved it enabled them to use the equipment at harbours, warehouses, and production areas where they handle fertilizers and phosphate rock. We have made a great step towards wrapping up port project as it will be concluded in 2. On the top of things there has been a huge progress with prevention cover designs. Covers will be installed at the seaports of our above-mentioned key partners.

Cleaning equipment up and running
All cleaning machines, that were purchased with RFTB’s participation, at our key partners – seaport terminals have been put into operation in the first quarter of 2024. As the winter receded and the weather improved it enabled them to use the equipment at harbours, warehouses, and production areas where they handle fertilizers and phosphate rock. These machines will be used on a regular basis at their facilities, and they will significantly contribute to lowering the emissions of nitrogen and phosphorus into the Baltic Sea.

Significant progress with prevention cover designs
During the first quarter of 2024 we have made substantial progress with prevention cover designs. Covers will be installed at the seaports of our above-mentioned key partners. We plan to have all the designs ready during the second quarter of 2024 and we will move swiftly to the production phase. Prevention covers will also be crucial to curb the emissions of nitrogen and phosphorus into the port waters.

Wrapping up port project – roundtable meeting
In the first quarter of 2024 we set on the process of concluding port project. The idea is to organise a roundtable meeting in Gdansk (Poland) on 7 May with all relevant stakeholders like environmental units from ports, maritime offices, seaport terminals. During the event we plan to hold an interactive discussion on best practices on handling dry bulk materials, that could be implemented at large Polish ports to prevent the pollution of port waters.

Transport Week in Gdynia, Poland
In March 2024, our Business Manager, Grzegorz Olszewski, participated in the Transport Week conference in Gdynia, Poland. The conference aimed to tackle topics that shape the current face of the transport sector, including market analysis and infrastructure development. It is known to be attended by relevant stakeholders in the port industry sector. During the conference, we engaged in valuable dialogues with industry professionals, terminal CEOs, and other organizations from the port sector, shedding light on the vital role of environmental awareness in the port industry.
