The Club is thriving in Katrineholm
Over three days, Katrineholm hosted the Baltic Sea City Accelerator Club for the first time since they took over the operations for the Club. Participants from Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, and Sweden gathered to accelerate efforts to improve water quality in the Baltic Sea, through collaboration and cross-sector cooperation. During the event there were lectures, workshops, and field visits to see concrete examples of how measures can help reduce nutrient leakage in a rural context in both Katrineholm and Nyköping. deepened their knowledge of the EU Water Framework Directive and gained a deeper understanding of how the environmental toxin PFAS affects the Baltic Sea.
Race For The Baltic names Katrineholm Municipality as operating partner for Baltic Sea City Accelerator Club
Race For The Baltic is pleased to announce that Katrineholm Municipality will be expanding its engagement in the Baltic Sea City Accelerator Club and assuming project management responsibilities for the Club, starting now and continuing in 2024 and 2025.
City Accelerator: Next event is around the corner!
The City Accelerator Club is hosting an event in Stockholm from April 25-27, focusing on accelerating solutions against eutrophication in municipalities and protecting the Baltic Sea. Featuring diverse speakers and sessions on topics such as stormwater planning and funding opportunities. Eleven municipalities coming from Estonia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden will get valuable insights and networking opportunities for municipalities. In Q422 we met with our Lithuanian members to discuss their local work and challenges addressing eutrophication. We would like to thank Panevėžys and Klaipėda District for their engagement and contribution to the City Accelerator Club and their commitment to extend their membership for another three years!
Members in focus at next Club event
It’s time to get excited for the next City Accelerator Club event, we at Race For The Baltic are now planning for the Club’s fall digital gathering. This fall event will focus on funding possibilities, municipalities’ ongoing projects and crunching the data of possible solutions.
Municipalities from Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Poland and Lithuania have been invited to listen in to topics and solutions regarding eutrophication in the Baltic Sea the 26-27th of October.
City Accelerator's three-day event to accelerate municipal actions
Race For The Baltic together with the Baltic Sea Challenge held The BSCAC spring event in Helsinki. The meeting gathered 10 municipalities from Sweden, Finland and Lithuania for a three-day event – to speed up eutrophication measures in their regions. Topics in focus were nutrient calculations and recycling, indicators for SDG 14 and solutions to prevent agricultural runoff: gypsum, structural liming, biochar, and wetlands. The event consisted of seven external presentations, two field trips and two workshops.
International meeting with municipalities surrounding the Baltic Sea
It is time for the Baltic Sea City Accelerator Club (BSCAC) to meet again, on the 26-28th of April in Helsinki! The Club meetings provide a platform for municipalities from the Baltic Sea States to collaborate in accelerating change within sustainable management of local waters. Our upcoming meeting will gather representatives from ten municipalities in Finland, Lithuania and Sweden.
Baltic Sea City Accelerator Club continues
In 2021 we held workshops at two different occasions with 17 different municipalities from 5 different countries. We are experiencing good progress and knowledge exchange amongst our municipalities and our next meeting is scheduled for the 26th-28th of April 2022 in Helsinki.
